ভালোবেসে, সখী, নিভৃতে যতনে

     আমার নামটি লিখো– তোমার

          মনের মন্দিরে।

আমার পরানে যে গান বাজিছে

     তাহার তালটি শিখো– তোমার

          চরণমঞ্জীরে॥

ধরিয়া রাখিয়ো সোহাগে আদরে

     আমার মুখর পাখি– তোমার

          প্রাসাদপ্রাঙ্গণে॥

মনে ক’রে সখী, বাঁধিয়া রাখিয়ো

     আমার হাতের রাখী– তোমার

          কনককঙ্কণে॥

আমার লতার একটি মুকুল

     ভুলিয়া তুলিয়া রেখো– তোমার

          অলকবন্ধনে।

আমার স্মরণ শুভ-সিন্দুরে

     একটি বিন্দু এঁকো– তোমার

          ললাটচন্দনে।

আমার মনের মোহের মাধুরী

     মাখিয়া রাখিয়া দিয়ো– তোমার

     অঙ্গসৌরভে।

আমার আকুল জীবনমরণ

     টুটিয়া লুটিয়া নিয়ো– তোমার

          অতুল গৌরবে॥

          In the courtyard of your palace

Do remember to fasten with care

     The thread that binds my wrist around

           The golden bracelet that graces yours

Pick one flower from my vine

     Pinning it only to forget

To your hair

          With the sindoor that carries memories of me

     Draw a dot 

          Amidst the sandalwood that decorates your forehead

The sweet illusion that fills my mind

     Wrap them around you

     To perfume your being

May my life and death be given

     To the fulfillment pf your

          Incomparable glory

আজি শ্রাবণঘনগহন মোহে গোপন তব চরণ ফেলে
নিশার মতো, নীরব ওহে, সবার দিঠি এড়ায়ে এলে।
প্রভাত আজি মুদেছে আঁখি, বাতাস বৃথা যেতেছে ডাকি,
নিলাজ নীল আকাশ ঢাকি নিবিড় মেঘ কে দিল মেলে॥
কূজনহীন কাননভূমি, দুয়ার দেওয়া সকল ঘরে–
একেলা কোন্ পথিক তুমি পথিকহীন পথের ‘পরে।
হে একা সখা, হে প্রিয়তম, রয়েছে খোলা এ ঘর মম,
সমুখ দিয়ে স্বপনসম যেয়ো না মোরে হেলায় ঠেলে॥

Just as the night arrives shrouded in silence, evading all eyes.

The morning sleeps on, the wind calls on it in vain,

Dense clouds veil the shameless blue of the sky.

All the birds sleep, silent the forest, the doors barred to each house –

While you walk alone on these silent unpeopled paths.

Dearest friend, for you my doors remain open,

Do not pass by like a dream pushing my hopes aside.

আজ বরষার রূপ হেরি মানবের মাঝে–
চলেছে গরজি, চলেছে নিবিড় সাজে॥
হৃদয়ে তাহার নাচিয়া উঠিছে ভীমা,
ধাইতে ধাইতে লোপ ক’রে চলে সীমা,
কোন্ তাড়নায় মেঘের সহিত মেঘে
বক্ষে বক্ষে মিলিয়া বজ্র বাজে॥
পুঞ্জে পুঞ্জে দূরে সুদূরের পানে
দলে দলে চলে, কেন চলে নাহি জানে।
জানে না কিছুই কোন্ মহাদ্রিতলে
গভীর শ্রাবণে গলিয়া পড়িবে জলে,
নাহি জানে তার ঘনঘোর সমারোহে
কোন্ সে ভীষণ জীবন মরণ রাজে॥

Today I see the glorious rains

Marching along in thunder, adorned in dense cloud.

Hearts awake in great courage,

They break all obstacles as they pass,

What drives cloud to clash against cloud?

Where do they go, whom do they seek?

They know not where under which mountain peak

They will shed their tears as rains pour down,

They know not that in the midst of the fanfare

Life and death endlessly battle, waging a great war.

স্মৃতিবেদনার মালা একেলা গাঁথি॥
আজি কোন্ ভুলে ভুলি আঁধার ঘরেতে রাখি দুয়ার খুলি,
মনে হয় বুঝি আসিছে সে মোর দুখরজনীর সাথি॥
আসিছে সে ধারাজলে সুর লাগায়ে,
নীপবনে পুলক জাগায়ে।
যদিও বা নাহি আসে তবু বৃথা আশ্বাসে
ধুলি-‘পরে রাখিব রে মিলন-আসনখানি পাতি॥

Your shadow lingers to play with sunshine among the trees.
