আমার   যে দিন ভেসে গেছে চোখের জলে

          তারি   ছায়া পড়েছে শ্রাবণগগনতলে॥

সে দিন যে রাগিণী গেছে থেমে,    অতল বিরহে নেমে   গেছে থেমে,

          আজি   পুবের হাওয়ায় হাওয়ায়   হায় হায় হায় রে

                   কাঁপন ভেসে চলে॥

          নিবিড় সুখে মধুর দুখে জড়িত ছিল সেই দিন–

              দুই তারে জীবনের বাঁধা ছিল বীন।

     তার ছিঁড়ে গেছে কবে     একদিন কোন্‌ হাহারবে,

              সুর হারায়ে গেল পলে পলে॥

Those days I once spent in tears

          Have cast their shadows upon the skies filled with rain.

The tune that died out that day, losing its voice in unending sorrow

         Today in the breezes from the east, alas once again

                   It trembles, affecting the senses.

          That day was bound with both deepest happiness and sweetest sorrow –

              As two strings taut upon this harp of life

     Then the strings fell apart   amidst much lamenting,

              And those tunes were lost, those moments too.

বড়ো বিস্ময় লাগে হেরি তোমারে/Such wonder fills me as I gaze upon you

বড়ো বিস্ময় লাগে হেরি তোমারে।
কোথা হতে এলে তুমি হৃদিমাঝারে॥
ওই মুখ ওই হাসি কেন এত ভালোবাসি,
কেন গো নীরবে ভাসি অশ্রুধারে॥
তোমারে হেরিয়া যেন জাগে স্মরণে
তুমি চিরপুরাতন চিরজীবনে।
তুমি না দাঁড়ালে আসি হৃদয়ে বাজে না বাঁশি–
যত আলো যত হাসি ডুবে আঁধারে॥

Kotha hotey ele tumi hridimajharey.
Oi mukh oi hashi keno eto bhalobashi,
Keno go neerobe bhashi oshrudhaarey.
Tomare heriya keno jaage smorone
Tumi chiropuraton chirojeeboney
Tumi na danraley ashi hridoye baaje na banshi –
joto alo joto hashi dubey andharey

Such wonder fills me as I gaze upon you
Where did you come from into my heart?
Why do I adore that face, why do I treasure that smile,
Why do silent tears flood me.
As I look upon you, I remember
You are both new and old, eternally in my life.
Without you in my heart, my soul does not sing
All the light and all happiness unseen in impenetrable darkness.
