কোনো ক্ষতি নাহি করে রাজমর্যাদায় ;
Duryodhan:
Condemnation! No longer do I fear it,
I will suffocate all condemnation.
I will silence this clamorous city
Crush its tongue and its audacity
Underfoot; “Duryodhan the sinner!”
“Duryodhan connives!”, “Duryodhan the low!”
Long have I heard this without uttering a word,
Today I pledge by this sceptre of mine, Oh King,
I will make them say this instead –
“Duryodhan is king, Duryodhan does not suffer
Criticism,discussion, Duryodhan forges
His fate with his own hands!
Dhritarashtra:
Son, hear me,
To banish criticism from the tongues of people,
Is to ensure that it spreads
Its roots, in the darkness of people’s minds.
It poisons them daily.
Allowing it to spend itself in effusive speech
Exhausts criticism; do not allow it
To build its strength in silence enforced
In the secret fortresses of the soul.
With the promise of love, calm it
Imprison it, charm the snake of protest
With the flute song of smiling deceit.
Duryodhan:
Unexpressed condemnation
Does nothing to the honour of a king;
I do not fear that. I do not care
That I am not loved, but audacity is unwelcome
Oh King! Love is voluntary,
Even the poorest can gift love –
Let them give that love freely to tame cats,
To stray dogs at their door, and to the Pandavas –
I do not need that love. I shall be feared
That is my right as ruler, as king.
I demand victory, by destroying any pride
felt by those who deserve it.
